The Union Safety System (USS) is an innovative information-gathering and reporting system designed to provide the highest level of health and safety representation to union members. Through an app on members’ cell phones, the USS gathers information from injured members to record when, where, why, and how a work site accident/injury occurred. This data is used to identify potential safety risks in the workplace. The union can use the information to protect its members from future unsafe work environments, equipment, and/or practices through collective bargaining. The USS is tailored to each union and is password protected. In addition to recording accident/injury information, the USS provides access to information about members’ rights and obligations as well as upcoming union events. It further provides access to experienced attorneys available for free consultation on matters such as Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability, or Personal Injury. The goal is to increase job site safety through reporting and publication while assuring that injured members are expertly represented.
